Cam Newton thinks Major League Baseball will be surpassed by the WNBA

Cam Newton thinks Major League Baseball will be surpassed by the WNBA

Newton recently made waves with his statement, declaring that Baseball is a dying sport and will likely be surpassed by the WNBA in 20 years. He pointed out that Americans are no longer engaging with Baseball as much, particularly at the youth level, leading to a lack of representation in the major leagues.

“Baseball isn’t being played by Americans anymore,”

Newton said. While his views don’t align exactly with Stephen A. Smith’s comments about Shohei Ohtani being unable to be the face of Baseball, Newton believes American talent like Aaron Judge, Mookie Betts, and Mike Trout are being ignored in the broader conversation.

The regular season of Baseball faces challenges like the 162-game schedule, yet when the lights shine the brightest, such as during the World Series, the audience and viewership surge to multi-year highs.

From my personal experience, it’s clear that the growth of the WNBA is undeniable, and while Baseball is facing struggles, there’s still a debate over its future. The message of Newton about paying attention to Baseball and the shifting sports landscape is something that resonates with me as someone who has closely watched both sports evolve over the years.
